March 2026 Issue

Oklahoma currently ranks 10th in the nation for food insecurity among seniors, with many older Oklahomans now at risk of hunger. Plus, with recent cuts to Medicaid and reduced SNAP benefits in effect, many of our older neighbors are having an even harder time making ends meet.
All too often, seniors living on fixed incomes are left to make impossible decisions. Should they purchase the medications they need to stay well or buy groceries for the week? Should they keep their heat on during cold nights or stock their pantry? No one, especially seniors who have given so much to our community over the years, should have to make these choices.
At the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, we’re committed to ensuring seniors in central and western Oklahoma have reliable access to nutritious food, and we need your support now more than ever. As you read through this edition of The Link, which focuses on how we’re helping seniors facing hunger, I ask you to think about the seniors in your own life. Then, consider making your most generous gift today to help provide nourishing meals for seniors in need of food assistance.
Remember, every $1 helps provide 3 meals. Your compassion and generosity make a real difference.
Gratefully,
Stacy Dykstra, Ph.D.
