Doris, a teacher’s assistant in Oklahoma City, is a single mom of two boys — one in middle school and one in high school. And you know how growing boys can eat!

Doris says it can be a struggle to keep food on the table, particularly in the summer when her kids no longer have access to meals at school — and are at home more often. The high cost of groceries and gas doesn’t make it any easier.

“When the prices started going up, I was like, please stop!” Doris says. “But it kept getting worse.”

That’s why Doris is grateful for the Project 66 Food & Resource Center, one of our partner pantries. Project 66’s stated goal is “to reach those who may go undernourished, such as children, the elderly and working families who are facing unusually difficult economic times. Our goal is to provide each family with enough basic food for at least two weeks.”

That’s made possible due to the selfless support of friends like you, and Doris wants you to know that she’s thankful.

“This a very good help to families,” she says. “I’m super glad this is here. It helps me to make it to the end of the month with my expenses. I know I have this place to help me finish.”

Friends like you help make it possible for single moms like Doris to make ends meet … and to put food on the table for their children.
