Children need good nutrition, but unfortunately, too many Oklahoma students don’t have the healthy foods they need at home.

That’s one of the reasons for the Regional Food Bank’s School Pantry Program, made possible by your support. The program serves middle and high school students who live with hunger.

The pantries are located on school grounds, giving students easy access. Kids can get the nutrition they need to stay alert and concentrate better in school.

Some students are hesitant to use the pantries out of a sense of shame or stigma. But a fellow student who volunteers encourages those students to come anyway.

“We want to let everybody know that we do have this resource and not to be ashamed to use it,” she says. “I think it would be a great loss if we did not have this.”

Students can come in and shop for what they need when it’s convenient and comfortable for them. That flexibility opened a new door to reliable food access for her — and her family.

The student volunteer expresses her gratitude to friends like you.

“Thank you first and foremost to people who donate,” she says. “I greatly appreciate it.”
