Pascuala works for a local high school, so she is off during the summer months when school is out. On one hand, she gets to spend the summer with her children. On the other hand, she doesn’t get paid over the summer.

“I’m a single mom with three children ages 18, 12 and 3 and they’re here all the time all summer. That’s a lot of mouths to feed, and no work means no pay for me,” she explains.

Thankfully, one of her students works at the Skyline Food & Resource Center (FRC) and told Pascuala all about it.

So last summer, she started visiting the FRC for a little extra help in providing nutritious meals for her family. That extra source of food made a huge difference.

“Every month after rent and bills, there’s not much left. And food costs so much, so it’s really hard,” Pascuala says. “The food I get here lasts about two weeks. I can stretch it with what I can afford to buy and it makes a big difference.”

Pascuala says the help means a lot to her, especially in the summer when she doesn’t have an income but needs to provide a lot more food.

“Thank you so much for everything,” she says. “People may not realize how much they help us, but they really do.”

Thank you for helping neighbors like Pascuala. Your gifts make a difference for Oklahoma families!
