Many families are just a paycheck or two away from facing a financial crisis or hunger. Kourtney knows this reality all too well now as part of a one-income household.
She used to work at a local grocery store, but after the birth of her second child, she became a stay-at-home mom to her 7-year-old daughter and 3-month-old son.
Even with her husband working full time, transitioning from two incomes to one has been challenging. In June, they turned to the Regional Food Bank for support, helping them stretch their groceries and ensure their family always has food on the table.
The Regional Food Bank distributes grab-and-go food boxes through the Norman Smith Memorial Library in Hinton, near Kourtney’s home. The boxes give her family enough food and snacks to keep her children nourished.
“She really likes the fruit pouches, the applesauce, and stuff like that. She loves spaghetti with sauce. And then the juices and the milk, she loves those,” Kourtney shares about her daughter.
To other families facing food insecurity, Kourtney offers this advice: “Don’t be ashamed to get it, because it helps a lot.”
Kourtney is grateful for your support, and so are we. Thank you for making summer brighter for Oklahoma families.
