When work dries up in the offseason, your support for families facing hunger helps provide food and hope.
Natalie knows how to work hard. As a landscaper, she often works up to 12 hours a day in the summer, mowing lawns, trimming hedges, caring for flower beds, cleaning up debris, and a lot more. But here in Oklahoma, her work dries up significantly in the winter.
“This time of year, before the holidays, we’re still removing leaves and cleaning up yard areas for some of the businesses we contract with,” Natalie says. “But our income really drops off.”
Natalie works with her 22-year-old son, who lives with her as well. With two mouths to feed in the winter months, she depends on the Regional Food Bank Food & Resource Center and caring friends like you who make it possible.
“The food we get here at the food bank really keeps us going until work picks up again in the spring,” Natalie says. “We get all kinds of sweets, some meat, vegetables and other produce, big rolls and napkins. We’re not picky! Every little bit helps us out a lot.”
As we approach Thanksgiving, Natalie says she’s truly thankful for friends like you who care. “Please don’t stop giving,” she says. “There’s a lot of people like us who need it. We really appreciate you.”
Your gifts make such a difference. Every $1 doubles in impact to help provide 6 meals with the matching gift.
