Feb. 25, 2021 – The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is joining forces with 11 Jersey Mike’s Subs in central Oklahoma for the Month of Giving campaign. During the month of March, customers can make a donation to the Regional Food Bank’s Food for Kids Programs at participating Jersey Mike’s restaurants.
The campaign will culminate with Jersey Mike’s Day of Giving on Wednesday, March 31, when the 11 local Jersey Mike’s restaurants will give 100 percent of the day’s sales – not just profit – to the Regional Food Bank.
“Each year, our local Jersey Mike’s Subs and their employees continue to show their passion for fighting childhood hunger in Oklahoma,” said Stacy Dykstra, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank. “Their generosity is astounding, especially considering how restaurants have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and has helped make a difference in the lives of thousands of Oklahoma children living with food insecurity.”
Last year, Jersey Mike’s Subs raised $21,090 for the Regional Food Bank’s Food for Kids Programs despite a shortened Month of Giving due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since 2012, Jersey Mike’s Subs has donated more than $461,700 to the Regional Food Bank’s Food for Kids Programs.
Donations raised during the Month of Giving will go to help Regional Food Bank Food for Kids Programs like the Backpack Program. The program provides kid-friendly, nutritious food to elementary school children who have been identified by school faculty as food insecure to help ensure they have meals over weekends and long breaks. A Backpack Program coordinator in Oklahoma County recently shared the following story with the Regional Food Bank:
“My students always look forward to having snacks at home and are very appreciative. This program helps families provide the basics and has been very important in these very uncertain times during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Throughout March, customers can make donations through the Jersey Mike’s mobile app or onsite. On the Day of Giving, Jersey Mike’s will offer free delivery through the Jersey Mike’s app. Click here to find participating locations and their operating hours.
