It’s summertime, so you’ll probably find Kayleena at the neighborhood pool, one of her favorite things to do.

When not in the water, she’s often doing something else she loves — painting with acrylics.

“I like painting landscapes best,” says the young teenager.

Kayleena takes after her dad, Shane, who often dabbles in another medium — he’s a tattoo artist. He has tattoos over much of his body, and at least a couple of them are from Kayleena’s drawings.

Shane’s love for his daughter is palpable. He’d do anything for her, including skipping meals to make sure she gets fed. He’s on disability income and his wife, Kay, doesn’t make much as a Lyft driver. SNAP benefits help, but they’re not enough.

That’s why this family is grateful for the Regional Food Bank Food & Resource Center in Moore — especially in the summer, when Kayleena no longer has access to free meals at school.

This particular FRC, a client-choice pantry that serves 20 ZIP codes, is one of 15 affiliated with the Regional Food Bank in central and western Oklahoma.

Shane says he and Kay barely earn enough to pay their rent and monthly bills, and there’s rarely much left for groceries. He wants you to know he’s thankful for your support!

“Keep doing what you’re doing,” Shane says. “We’re very appreciative of it.”

Kayleena nods in agreement: “Thank you for all you’ve done!”

Because of you, families like these are getting the nutritious food they need. Thank you so much!
