Janet has dealt with a lot of pain — physical and emotional — in her 72 years.

Her husband died when they were in their 30s. Then she started dealing with serious health issues over the next few decades. On top of all that, there’s been family conflict. She says her sons often fight, and her relationship with them is strained. So Janet does the best she can, living alone in subsidized housing, with little to no help from her family. Her limited income often runs out by the end of the month.

She’s thankful for the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma’s Food & Resource Center in Moore, where she supplements her own grocery shopping to make ends meet.

“It helps, especially at end of the month, because I run out of everything,” Janet says. “They always ask you what you’re out of, and they usually have what I need.”

“I’m very grateful to people who donate their time, food and money, because I can’t help myself,” she says. “They’re just a godsend for me.”
