“Trying to keep enough food in the house for four growing boys is almost impossible,” says Rebecca. “I have to buy groceries all the time, and sometimes I want to cry because of how expensive it is.”
Rebecca is a stay-at-home mom raising four boys, ages 18 months to 11. Her husband works as a mechanic, but it’s still a struggle to keep food on the table. It’s especially difficult during the summer months when her two older boys are out of school and no longer have access to the breakfasts and lunches available during the school year.
Then she learned about the Regional Food Bank’s Summer Feeding Program at Norman Smith Memorial Library in Hinton. Every two weeks, each of her boys receives two boxes of food, including meals, applesauce, juice and milk, to last them until their next visit.
Whenever one of the boys gets hungry, Rebecca tells them, “Go to the [food] box.”
Rebecca is very grateful for the Regional Food Bank and all the caring people who support it.
“Without this food program, I wouldn’t know what to do,” she says. “It’s really opened my eyes to how much the food bank helps people. I want to tell the donors, ’You’re making a huge difference in a lot of people’s lives. This such a blessing.’”
Thank you for helping neighbors like Rebecca and her children. Your gifts make a difference for Oklahoma families!
