Jan. 11, 2022 – Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OG&E) and CLEAResult, an energy optimization company, have donated 208,000 energy-efficient LED bulbs to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. The bulbs are being distributed by Regional Food Bank partners within the OG&E service area to help households living with food insecurity reduce energy costs.

“OG&E is proud to partner with the Regional Food Bank to distribute energy-saving LED light bulbs to community members living with hunger,” said Keith Erickson, director of sales and business development at OG&E. “In addition to helping lower energy consumption, these bulbs can last up to 25 times longer than incandescent bulbs. By providing LEDs, we are not only helping recipients save on replacement costs, but also lowering household expenses for Oklahomans facing food insecurity.”

Since 2015, OG&E has donated more than 1.7 million bulbs to the Regional Food Bank. OG&E employees are also active volunteers, having donated more than 1,000 hours volunteering in the Regional Food Bank’s Volunteer Center.

“Not only does this donation provide our partners with a much-desired item, it also offers Oklahomans living with food insecurity utility savings that can help them stretch their monthly budgets even further,” said Stacy Dykstra, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank. “We are so grateful to OG&E and CLEAResult for their innovative and generous donation.”

The bulbs will be packaged and prepared for distribution by volunteers in the Regional Food Bank’s Volunteer Center. Volunteer opportunities are currently available throughout the fall. Visit rfbo.org/volunteer to learn more.
