Heather grew up in Stroud and lived here most of her life. This area is her hometown, and she has a big heart for seeing her neighbors grow and succeed.

Although she moved away for a time, she returned about four years ago to take care of her dad, who recently passed away. It was a busy time for Heather — juggling between caring for her father, staying on track, and trying to give back to the community when she could.

But volunteering has always remained a passion, and she now gives her time to the Stroud CSFP food distributions a few times a month.

“I like volunteering any way I can and helping people,” Heather says. “I just love doing that. It doesn’t matter — young, old, whatever. If it’s somebody in need, I like helping them out.”

We’re so grateful for all our volunteers, like Heather, who donate their time to the Regional Food Bank and our community partners. Volunteers are the backbone of our work in the community and make our distributions and community outreach possible.

In addition to helping others, volunteers make real connections with the people they serve alongside.

“The people are great,” Heather says. “They just love helping people, too, and it’s great.”

If you’ve ever considered volunteering, let Heather convince you! “Don’t be afraid to come help out,” she says. “Just put that fear aside and come and do it. You never know unless you try!”

Thank you, Heather! We appreciate you and the hours you give to help strengthen our communities.
