July 9, 2025 – The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma will participate in #ChipInChipAway on Thursday, July 10. This national day of giving focuses on the community, asking donors to give any amount they can to Chip In, Chip Away at Hunger in their neighborhoods.
For so many people, the future holds financial uncertainty. The need for food assistance is at a 10-year high and prices for virtually everything continue to grow.
“Right now, a rising number of Oklahomans are facing the impossible choice between food and other basic needs. That’s why we’re asking everyone to chip in, no matter the amount,” said Stacy Dykstra, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank. “Together, we can chip away at hunger and bring hope to our neighbors. Your generosity makes a real difference in the lives of children, seniors and families across our state.”
While the need continues to grow, nonprofits like the Regional Food Bank are facing fewer donors. Policy changes are creating hardships for many people and cuts to government funding have left the Regional Food Bank spending more money to continue meeting the need.
Families, children and older neighbors all need reliable access to food. Nobody in central and western Oklahoma should have to choose between buying food and paying for bills or medication. But that’s the reality many Oklahomans face.
#ChipInChipAway on July 10 will focus attention on the act of giving, chipping in to help our neighbors through tough times by providing food and hope. Make a donation today.
