Serving Our Seniors
At the Regional Food Bank, we’re always thinking of ways to keep our senior neighbors from going hungry. Did you know that:
- Oklahoma has the 10th highest rate of food insecurity in the nation for seniors.
- 23% of Oklahoma residents ages 60 and older received food stamps in the last year.
- 28% of Oklahoma senior households have an annual income of less than $20,000.
- The number of people ages 65 and older in Oklahoma is projected to rise 37% over the next 15 years, from 553,761 to 757,553.
These are just a few of the reasons we’re so focused on providing services to the seniors in our state. They deserve our help.
That’s why I’m grateful for friends like you, who make it possible for the Regional Food Bank to provide a number of services to our older neighbors, including our Senior Servings Program, which you’ll read about in this spring issue of The Link.
I hope these stories will inspire you to give another gift today. Every dollar helps provide four meals. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Stacy Dykstra, Ph.D.
