Three Things That Give Me Hope

Dear Partner,

I am so proud of how our team has responded to the pandemic in the last 15 months or so. They’ve shown resourcefulness, creativity and flexibility as they’ve come up with methods to get food to as many people as possible in these unprecedented times.

You’ll read about some of those creative methods in this issue of The Link — methods that, in some cases, have proven to be even more efficient, and reaching more people, than in pre-pandemic times. You’ll see how that has particularly happened with children in our summer feeding programs.

Speaking of children, kids in Oklahoma need your help now more than ever! Right now, you can help twice as many as usual, thanks to our Food for Kids Match Campaign. This special opportunity is made possible by a number of generous friends — the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma, Dolese Bros. Co., Marathon Oil, New York Life, David and Lezlie Hudiburg, Mark and Beth Brewer, and David Gorham — who have teamed up to match all gifts up to a total of $224,000. Please don’t miss this chance!

It’s a critical time for our children. Education and nutrition go hand in hand. Hungry children tend to underperform academically, so they need your help. A solid education will help them someday land the kinds of jobs that will help them break the cycle of poverty and hunger. They’re counting on you!
