(Oklahoma City) – Aug. 2, 2018 – Now through Sept. 8, Subway will donate 20 cents from every Cubano sale to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, up to $10,000. This donation will provide 40,000 meals for Oklahomans living with hunger.
Subway believes it is important to take care of the community while tying the donation to a hearty sandwich like the Cubano. Oklahoma is the fifth hungriest state in the nation, which is why support from the community is so important.
“We are so grateful to Subway for their continued partnership with the Regional Food Bank,” said Katie Fitzgerald, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank. “This is a great way to give back and enjoy a delicious meal. Donations raised through this partnership will help us feed chronically hungry children, seniors on fixed incomes and families struggling to put food on the table.”
Last year, the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma distributed more than 52 million pounds of food, or more than 43.4 million meals, through a network of more than 1,300 community-based partner agencies and charitable feeding programs and schools throughout 53 central and western Oklahoma counties.
"My husband works full-time and I work part-time cleaning houses on the side,” shared a client who visited a Regional Food Bank partner agency. “It's never enough; it's just not enough. You strive to have everything for your family, but it's really a big struggle. School supplies, school clothes, then rent and your utilities. You have to pay those bills.”
Working together, we can end hunger in Oklahoma. For more information about the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, visit regionalfoodbank.org or call 405-972-1111. For a list of participating SUBWAY® locations visit subway.com.
