Jersey Mike’s Day of Giving Helps Fight Childhood Hunger in Oklahoma

(OKLAHOMA CITY) – March 21, 2018 – On Wednesday, March 28 Jersey Mike’s Subs will donate 100 percent of sales at 12 Oklahoma City area locations to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma’s Food for Kids Programs through its eighth annual Day of Giving. During the month of March, Jersey Mike’s customers are invited to make a donation to the Regional Food Bank’s Food for Kids Programs to help fight childhood hunger.

One in four children in Oklahoma has inconsistent access to healthy food. Every $100 raised through this campaign will support a child in a Food for Kids Program for an entire school year. More than $70,000 was donated in 2017 through the “Month of Giving” promotion and nearly $270,000 has been raised for the Regional Food Bank’s Food for Kids Programs over the last five years.

Last year, the Regional Food Bank provided more than 3 million meals to chronically hungry children through the Backpack Program, Kids Café, Summer Feeding and the School Pantry Program.

  • Through the Backpack Program, elementary school children receive a backpack full of kid-friendly, non-perishable nutritious food on Friday to sustain them over weekends and school holidays.
  • Kids Café and Snack Sites provide food, mentoring, tutoring and a variety of other activities to children in central and western Oklahoma.
  • Summer Feeding offers free breakfast and/or lunch and a snack to children 18 and younger in low-income areas over the summer months.
  • The School Pantry Program provides chronically hungry middle and high school students with food to sustain them after school and over the weekends.

Together, we can end childhood hunger. For more information about the Jersey Mike’s Day of Giving on March 28 or the Regional Food Bank visit regionalfoodbank.org/events or call 405-972-1111.
