Last year, OKC Restaurant Week raised over $10,000 to fight childhood hunger through Food for Kids.
Last school year, the Regional Food Bank provided millions meals to chronically hungry children through Food for Kids childhood hunger programs: Backpack Program, Kids Cafe, Summer Feeding, and School Pantries.
“We’ve added nearly 3,000 children to the Backpack Program this year alone,” said Katie Fitzgerald, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. “One in four children face hunger every day. There is nothing more haunting to me than to think about a child going to bed hungry, waking up hungry, and trying to survive the weekend until they get to eat lunch at school on Monday.”
