Okie Express Continues to Fight Hunger with Regional Food Bank

Half the Proceeds from Grand Opening of Del City Store Benefits Nonprofit

(OKLAHOMA CITY) – Sept. 11, 2015 – Okie Express Auto Wash continues to feed hungry Oklahomans and support the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. From September 11th through 17th, Okie Express will donate half of the operational profit from their Del City location, located at 5520 S.E. 29th, to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

“Every dollar donated ensures that our neighbors will have enough food to put on the table,” said Rodney Bivens, executive director of the Regional Food Bank.  “Thank you for helping fight hunger in Oklahoma; we appreciate your support.”

Okie Express customers also have the opportunity to make a $1 donation to the Regional Food Bank when they purchase their car wash.  To date, Okie Express and its customers have donated nearly $37,000 to the nonprofit, which is enough to provide nearly 185,000 meals for struggling seniors, hardworking families, and chronically hungry children in central and western Oklahoma.

Okie Express has four additional metro locations:

  • 1801 S. Telephone Rd., Moore, OK 73160
  • 1260 East Hwy. 152, Mustang, OK 73064
  • 1025 N. Santa Fe Ave., Edmond, OK 73003

The Regional Food Bank provides enough food to feed 116,000 Oklahomans every week, 37 percent of which are children

"One of our students has two jobs outside of school, trying to help support his mother and little sister,” said a Food Pantry coordinator. “There was very little food at his home.   Thankfully, we are equipped to help and a great strain has been lifted from this student."

Established in 1980, the Regional Food Bank is the largest private domestic hunger-relief organization in the state of Oklahoma. Last fiscal year, the nonprofit distributed 49.9 million pounds of food and products through a network of more than 1,200 charitable feeding programs and schools in 53 central and western Oklahoma counties.
