Join Jersey Mike’s in Fighting Childhood Hunger in Oklahoma During March

Eighth Annual “Month of Giving” Benefits Food for Kids Programs

(OKLAHOMA CITY) – Feb. 16, 2018 - The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is once again joining forces with 12 Jersey Mike’s Subs restaurants throughout the Oklahoma City area for the eighth annual “Month of Giving” fundraising campaign. During the month of March, customers are invited to make a donation to the Regional Food Bank’s Food for Kids Programs at Jersey Mike’s to fight childhood hunger.

“One in four children in Oklahoma has inconsistent access to healthy food,” said Katie Fitzgerald, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank. “No child should have to worry about not having enough to eat. Thanks to Jersey Mike’s ‘Month of Giving,’ more Oklahoma children will receive the nutrition they need to grow and thrive.”

The campaign culminates with Jersey Mike’s “Day of Giving” on Wednesday, March 28. Metro area Jersey Mike’s restaurants will donate 100 percent of the day’s sales – every single dollar that comes in – to the Regional Food Bank’s Food for Kids Programs. Every $100 raised through this campaign will support a child in a Food for Kids Program for an entire school year. More than $70,000 was raised last year through “Month of Giving” and nearly $270,000 has been raised for the Food for Kids Programs over the last five years.

Last school year, the Regional Food Bank provided more than 3 million meals to chronically hungry children through the Backpack Program, Kids Café, Summer Feeding and the School Pantry Program.

  • Through the Backpack Program, children receive a backpack full of kid-friendly, non-perishable nutritious food on Friday to sustain them over weekends and school holidays.
  • Kids Café and Snack Sites provide food, mentoring, tutoring, and a variety of other activities to children in central and western Oklahoma.
  • Summer Feeding offers free breakfast and/or lunch to children 18 and younger in low-income areas over the summer months.
  • The School Pantry Program provides chronically hungry middle and high school students with food to sustain them after school and over the weekends.

Nationwide, more than 1,360 Jersey Mike’s locations across the country will partner with 170 different charities. For a list of participating restaurants, and for more information on “Month of Giving,” please visit
