(OKLAHOMA CITY) – May 13, 2016 – On May 14, help “Stamp Out Hunger” by participating in the Letter Carriers’ Food Drive. Leave canned food and other non-perishable food donations by your mailbox for your letter carrier to pick up on Saturday. Donations can also be dropped off at your local post office.
Most needed items include: canned meats, meat-based soups, canned fruits, canned vegetables, peanut butter, and rice and beans. Nonperishable food donations can also be dropped off at participating post offices. Monetary donations can also be made online at feedinghope.org or by calling 405.600.3136. Every dollar donated will provide five meals for Oklahomans with inconsistent access to food.
As the demand for food assistance continues to rise, the Regional Food Bank depends upon the generosity of the community to support its mission of “Fighting Hunger…Feeding Hope.”
“Mary is a single working mother that is trying to make ends meet every month,” shared a partner agency of the Regional Food Bank. “Recently, she was unable to work for several days due to illness. This made things very hard for her family. She says that if it had not been for the pantry, she would not have diapers and enough food along with paying utilities and rent. She is very grateful and thankful for the help in a very difficult time.”
