Globelink donates 10 percent of its commission from each new business transaction to help the one in four children in Oklahoma who struggles with hunger. Because there is a critical connection between childhood nutrition and cognitive and physical development, even nutritional deficiencies of a relatively short-term nature can negatively impact a child's health, behavior and the ability to concentrate and perform complex tasks.
The Regional Food Bank serves children directly through four Food for Kids programs: the Backpack Program, Kids Cafe, Summer Feeding and School Pantries. Through July 31, any child 18 and under can receive free meals through the Regional Food Bank’s Summer Feeding Program at more than 120 sites in central and western Oklahoma.

“While summer break should be a fun, care-free time for young students, too many children in Oklahoma still worry about where their next meal will come from,” said Katie Fitzgerald, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank. “During the summer, electricity bills are high and parents struggle to put food on the table. We want to make sure that parents know free meals are available for their children.”
Fitzgerald also stated that there is an urgent need for volunteers to help pack 6,000 meals a day through July 31st. For more information, call 405-600-3160 or visit www.regionalfoodbank.org/volunteer.
