“Food is the most essential school supply. Through the Food for Kids Programs, we are able to provide nutritious meals that children need to thrive in the classroom,” Katie Fitzgerald, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank. “We are grateful for The Beach Boys and their devoted fans for joining us in the fight against childhood hunger.”
One in four Oklahoma children live with hunger. Last year, more than 2.3 million meals were provided for chronically hungry children through Food for Kids Programs such as the Backpack Program and the School Pantry Program.
The Backpack Program provides kid-friendly, nutritious food to elementary school children who are food insecure to eat over weekends and school holidays. The program served nearly 20,000 students at 481 elementary schools in Oklahoma last year.
Chronically hungry middle and high school students are served through the School Pantry Program. Last year, the program served 6,495 students at 172 schools.
Tickets for the concert can be purchased online by visiting www.okcciviccenter.com, over the phone at (405) 594-8300 or by visiting Civic Center Music Hall, 201 N. Walker Ave. in Oklahoma City.
