Double Your Impact in the Fight Against Hunger this Holiday Season

(OKLAHOMA CITY) – Dec. 21, 2018 – No family should be without a meal during the holiday season and through Jan. 15 Oklahomans can double their donations, up to $600,000, thanks to a gift from APMEX.com, the Cresap Family Foundation and Chesapeake Energy Corporation.

During the match, a donation of $1 helps provide eight meals to chronically hungry children, seniors living on fixed incomes and hardworking families struggling to make ends meet in 53 Oklahoma counties. Once the match is met, $1 still helps provide four meals.

Chesapeake Energy employees and their families recently donated 2,475 pounds of food during the Giving Tree lighting event. You can enjoy the sights and sounds of the season and bring shelf stable food donations to the Giving Tree from 6 to 9 p.m. through Jan. 1 at 6100 N. Western Ave.

"Making a difference in our community and helping those in need is extremely important to our employees and part of our company culture,” said Doug Lawler, chief executive officer of Chesapeake Energy Corporation. “The Regional Food Bank is instrumental in providing food to the hungry in our state, and we are proud to join them in meeting the needs of Oklahomans this holiday season.”

One in six Oklahomans lack consistent access to nutritious food on a daily basis. Last year, the Regional Food Bank distributed 50 million pounds of food to clients through more than 1,250 community-based partner agencies.

"The holiday giving season is the perfect time to take advantage and double the impact you can have in the lives of your neighbors living with hunger," said Katie Fitzgerald, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank. “We are very grateful to have this partnership with our generous Holiday Match donors.”
