Additional Mobile Food Distributions Available for Federal Employees, Contractors

(OKLAHOMA CITY) – Jan. 28, 2019 – Although the federal government shutdown has ended, impacted federal employees will not begin receiving back pay until later this week or the start of next week and impacted federal contractors are unlikely to receive back pay. As a result, the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma will offer four mobile food distributions this week. Guests will need to show their federal ID or proof of employment to receive assistance.

The distribution sites are:

Wednesday, Jan. 30, 5:30-7 p.m.
Anadarko – Anadarko High School, 1400 Warrior Dr.
Chandler - Agri-Civic Center, 1023 W. 15th St.
Yukon - Yukon High School, 1777 S. Yukon Parkway

Thursday, Jan. 31, 5:30-7 p.m.
Chickasha - Grady County Fairgrounds, 500 E. Choctaw Ave.

Guests will receive a variety of foods including pasta, cereal, peanut butter, canned vegetables and meat, fresh produce, frozen protein and bread.

“Although federal employees are returning to work this week, we feel that there will still be a need for food assistance among a number the employees and contractors,” said Katie Fitzgerald, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank.

In addition to the mobile distributions, a number of the Regional Food Bank’s community-based partner agencies are offering extended hours to provide food assistance to those impacted. To see a list of agencies and hours, click here, visit or call 405-972-1111.
