(OKLAHOMA CITY) – Nov. 24, 2020 - The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is encouraging the public to triple their impact this GivingTuesday by donating to the organization’s Holiday Match campaign. An anonymous donor is offering a $100,000 match just for GivingTuesday, which means not only will gifts be matched dollar for dollar thanks to the $700,000 Holiday Match presented by APMEX.com with support from the Cresap Family Foundation, but it will also be matched again up to $100,000. For every $1 donated on GivingTuesday, that $1 will help provide 12 meals for Oklahomans living with hunger.
GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable-giving season by inspiring people to give back on Dec. 1.
"In these uncertain times, it has heartwarming to see the community step up to lend a hand to Oklahomans hit the hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic," said Stacy Dykstra, CEO of the Regional Food Bank. "Thanks to the Holiday Match, our donors can be assured they are making a huge impact in the fight against hunger."
After GivingTuesday, every gift to the Regional Food Bank's Holiday Match campaign is matched, dollar for dollar, up to $700,000 through Jan. 15. Donations can be made by visiting rfbo.org/give or by calling 405-600-3161.
Despite the Regional Food Bank's Volunteer Center remaining closed to the public as a safety precaution, the organization encourages those who can't give financially to get involved in the fight against hunger by hosting a food and fund drive, becoming a virtual volunteer or starting an online fundraiser.
"GivingTuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year," said Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO, and co-founder. "With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, GivingTuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world."
