OG&E, CLEAResult Donate 260,000 Energy-Efficient Bulbs to Regional Food Bank

Bulbs will be distributed to Regional Food Bank’s Partner Agencies in OG&E’s Service Area

(OKLAHOMA CITY) – Sept. 3, 2020  - Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OG&E) and CLEAResult, an energy optimization company, recently donated 260,000 energy-efficient LED bulbs to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. The bulbs will be distributed to the Regional Food Bank's community-based partner agencies located in the OG&E service area. The bulbs will be distributed to households to help reduce energy costs for families and seniors living with food insecurity.

“For the past six years, OG&E has partnered with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma to distribute energy-saving LED light bulbs to families. Now, more than ever, it’s important to help families manage and lower their household expenses. We are proud to again partner with the Regional Food Bank to support Oklahoma communities and families, as together, we work through this difficult time.” Dean Pollock, OG&E senior manager of customer programs and support.

This is OG&E's sixth donation of bulbs to the Regional Food Bank since 2015. In total, the company has donated more than 1.5 million bulbs to the Regional Food Bank. Once sorted the bulbs are distributed to the Regional Food Bank's partners located in OG&E service area who then make the bulbs available to Oklahomans receiving food assistance.

"Thanks to this partnership with OG&E and CLEAResult we are able to work to shorten the line in Oklahoma," said Deb Bunting, interim CEO of the Regional Food Bank. "Not only are we offering food, we are offering utility savings that can in turn offer more financial stability to Oklahomans living with food insecurity."

In a typical year, OG&E and CLEAResult employees would volunteer to package and prepare the bulbs for distribution. Employees have volunteered more than 1,000 hours in the Regional Food Bank’s Volunteer Center. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Regional Food Bank staff will prepare the bulbs.

One in four Oklahoma children live with food insecurity, a number expected to worsen amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and economic downturn. Through Sept. 30, all donations to the Regional Food Bank’s Food for Kids Programs are matched, dollar for dollar, up to $160,000. Make a donation today by visiting foodforkids.us or by calling 405-600-3136.
