(OKLAHOMA CITY) – Oct. 23, 2019 - A food and fund drive sponsored by Pinnacle Business Systems will help the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma feed 56 children for an entire school year through their Food for Kids Programs.
Pinnacle employees kicked off the drive by sorting produce in the Regional Food Bank's Volunteer Center. Employees totaled 50 hours of service, helping the Regional Food Bank save $1,272 in labor costs that can be used to provide more meals to Oklahoma children living with hunger.
Throughout the drive, Pinnacle collected food and funds during the Pinnacle Business Systems Golf Invitational and even pledged to donate $1 for every handshake they received at the annual Oklahoma Technology Association conference.
"No child should go hungry in Oklahoma," said Rob Anderson, Pinnacle Chief Executive Officer. "Pinnacle is committed to giving back to the communities where our employees work and live."
Pinnacle also matched employee contributions made to the Regional Food Bank. Overall, Pinnacle raised $1,932 for the Food for Kids Programs.
"We are so grateful for the kindness of Pinnacle and their employees," said Katie Fitzgerald, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank. "Their contributions will help to provide hope to the thousands of Oklahoma children who go to bed every night wondering where their next meal comes from."
In Oklahoma, one in four children is food insecure and do not have consistent access to enough nutritious food to help them live a healthy life. In the last year, the Regional Food Bank provided more than 2.8 million meals to nearly 42,000 chronically hungry children in Oklahoma.
