(OKLAHOMA CITY) – July 31, 2017 – The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma has been awarded $12,636 from Arvest Bank as part of the financial institution’s annual 1 Million Meals initative. This donation will provide the equivalent of more than 63,000 meals for children, families and seniors struggling with hunger.
“Arvest Bank is committed to helping our neighbors in need of food assistance,” said Brenda Gauntt, Oklahoma City marketing manager for Arvest Bank. “We are proud of our employees who not only give to support the 1 Million Meals initiative, but also help to raise awareness about food insecurity in our communities.”
Since 2011, Arvest Banks has donated nearly $124,000 for the Regional Food Bank.
“I want to thank Arvest Bank, and its customers, for helping us fight hunger in Oklahoma,” said Katie Fitzgerald, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. “One in six Oklahomans faces hunger every day. Arvest Bank’s generous donation will help our neighbors struggling to put food on the table.”
Arvest Bank’s 1 Million Meals initiative invited bank associates, customers and community members to participate in fundraising efforts and nonperishable food drives to fight hunger in the more than 120 communities the bank serves. In total, enough food and funds were raised to provide more than 1.8 million meals for Americans in need of food assistance in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.
Thanks to support from individual donors and businesses like Arvest Bank, the Regional Food Bank is able to provide enough food to feed 126,000 Oklahomans each week in 53 counties in central and western Oklahoma.
It’s never too late to join the fight against hunger in Oklahoma. Each dollar donated provides the equivalent of five meals for Oklahomans with inconsistent access to food. For more information about the Regional Food Bank, or to make a donation, call 405-600-3136 or visit www.regionalfoodbank.org.
