May 2026 Operations Updates
Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Donation Processing Update

Our Volunteer Center will operate on a modified schedule May 18–27 due to the annual AIB Food Safety Audit. These intermittent closures will temporarily slow the processing of donations from the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.
As full operations resume, our team will begin sorting the large volume of contributions into case categories such as glass/plastic items, canned goods and packaged meals.
Our Customer Service team will share updates and ordering details as products become available.
We appreciate your patience as we work through this process and prepare inventory for distribution.
Protein Packaging Center (PPC) Update
How the PPC Works
The Protein Packaging Center (PPC) helps transform large-scale protein donations into ready-to-distribute portions for neighbors:
- We receive frozen bulk meat donations from a variety of donors, with packaging sizes ranging from 40-pound boxes up to 2,000-pound containers.
- This product is processed through automated equipment and repackaged into 3-to-5 pound bags, portion sizes that are practical for households to take home.
- Finished bags are packed into cases (approximately 21 pounds each) and returned to the warehouse.
- Before distribution, all product and the production environment undergo rigorous testing to ensure food safety and quality. Once cleared, product is released for agency ordering.
Looking Ahead
From receipt to processing to inspection, this work takes time, but steady progress continues. Since the start of the year, the PPC has produced more than 7,800 cases, with output increasing month over month. Looking ahead, we anticipate making nearly 5,000 cases of frozen protein available each month.
Staffing Update
In March 2026, PPC transitioned from a 5-day, 8-hour schedule to a 4-day, 10-hour schedule. This shift increases overall production time and allows us to expand protein packing capacity to better support partner needs.
