Jan. 27, 2023 – The Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma raised $8,897 for the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma during its annual production of “A Christmas Carol.” Since 2011, Lyric Theatre audiences have contributed more than $217,600 to help fight hunger in central and western Oklahoma.

The production was held outdoors at Harn Homestead for the third year. The historic site was reimagined into a holiday village with audience members walking from scene to scene. Following each show, cast members gathered donations for the Regional Food Bank.

“We are always impressed with the efforts of the Lyric Theatre and the generosity of its patrons to help provide meals to Oklahomans in need of food assistance,” said Stacy Dykstra, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank. “It is a rare and generous opportunity for a nonprofit organization to help raise money for another nonprofit.”

Over the last decade, Lyric Theatre and its patrons have helped the Regional Food Bank provide the equivalent of 870,800 meals.

“Each year our generous patrons have taken the message of Lyric’s ‘A Christmas Carol’ to heart and have enhanced the lives of Oklahomans in need of food throughout the year. We want to thank them for their donations after each performance. It has and continues to make a difference to so many lives,” said Michael Baron, producing artistic director at Lyric Theatre. “We are also thankful for the work that the Regional Food Bank continues to do for the health and well-being of our community, especially during this challenging time.”
