Aug. 11, 2020 – The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma has been awarded a $20,000 Community Impact Grant from New York Life. The grant will support the Regional Food Bank’s efforts to provide food to a network of partner agencies in central and western Oklahoma.

“The pandemic and economic downturn has taken its toll on Oklahoma families. We have seen a significant increase in demand across all of our programs,” said Deb Bunting, interim CEO of the Regional Food Bank. “We are grateful for New York Life’s generous donation, which will help provide for thousands of meals to Oklahomans living with hunger.”

Throughout the pandemic, the Regional Food Bank and its partner agencies have continued to work to develop safe and innovative ways to serve residents in need of food assistance.

“I’m proud to work for a company that encourages its agents and employees to devote their time, energy and talents to support the needs and priorities of their local community,” said Sherry Barton, financial services professional with New York Life’s Oklahoma City offices. “We are pleased that this donation will help the Regional Food Bank and the Oklahoma households they serve.”

The Community Impact Grant program awards grants of up to $25,000 to local nonprofit organizations that are championed by New York Life agents and employees. Since the program’s inception in 2008, more than 600 grants totaling nearly $8 million have been awarded to nonprofits across the country.
