The Regional Food Bank's prepared and perishable food rescue program, Second Helpings, picks up excess prepared food from food service providers and distributes it to local on-site feeding programs for hungry Oklahomans.
In FY 2007,
788,136 pounds of food were donated to the program. Second Helpings collects product from restaurants, supermarkets, caterers, hotels and schools. Standards for acceptance and handling of food were set in conjunction with the City/County Health Department.
