Big Truck Tacos Collects Big Donations For Food Bank

Dec. 10, 2009

OKLAHOMA CITY – Through December 31st, Big Truck Tacos, located at 530 Northwest 23rd Street in Oklahoma City, will be collecting non-perishable food donations to benefit the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

"At Big Truck Tacos, we say that we're saving the world, one taco at a time," says Chef and Owner Kathryn Mathis. "In partnering with the Regional Food Bank, we're giving our customers a way to get in on the world-saving business, by feeding others as they feed themselves. We hope everyone will give what they can!"

Most needed non-perishable food donations include: canned meats, canned fruits and vegetables, and peanut butter. Donations can also be made online at regionalfoodbank.org. All monetary donations made until December 31st will be matched by Chesapeake Energy, dollar for dollar, up to $100,000. Donations are needed now more than ever. While distribution is up 19 percent, financial donations are down 17 percent.

"During the winter, many Oklahomans have to choose between paying for heat and electricity – or buying food," said Rodney Bivens, executive director of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. "Thanks to the community, and organizations like Big Truck Tacos, the Regional Food Bank provides enough food to feed more than 63,000 people each week in 53 central and western Oklahoma counties."
