Panera Bread Committed to Fighting Hunger in Oklahoma

Donations to Regional Food Bank Surpasses $100,000

(OKLAHOMA CITY) – Feb. 10, 2017 – Over the last five years, Panera Bread has donated more than $101,000 to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

“At Panera Bread, we are very passionate about fighting hunger,” said Aubrey Iasiello, market relations manager for Panera Bread. “By partnering with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, we were able to help people right here in our own community.”

Oklahoma is one of the hungriest states in the nation, where one in six Oklahomans struggles with hunger every day.  The Regional Food Bank provides enough food to feed more than 126,000 Oklahomans every week, yet it is not enough. That’s why support from businesses like Panera is so important.

“Thanks to the generosity of Panera Bread, more than 505,700 meals have been provided to children, seniors living on fixed incomes and working families who cannot make ends meet,” said Katie Fitzgerald, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.  “We are thankful for their commitment to fighting hunger and feeding hope in Oklahoma.”

Together, we can solve hunger.  Every dollar donated to the Regional Food Bank provides five meals for Oklahomans with inconsistent access to food.  To make a donation visit regionalfoodbank.org or call 405-972-1111.

Established in 1980, the Regional Food Bank is the largest private, domestic hunger-relief organization in the state of Oklahoma. Last fiscal year, the nonprofit distributed 52 million pounds of food and products through a network of more than 1,300 schools and charitable feeding programs in 53 central and western Oklahoma counties.
