OKLAHOMA CITY– (Aug. 24, 2015) – From August 24 through August 30, Jersey Mike’s Subs, located at 2522 W. Memorial Road in Oklahoma City, will once again join the fight against childhood hunger in Oklahoma. The store has distributed nearly 5,000 cards that allow customers to receive a free sub for a minimum $2 donation to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma’s Food for Kids programs. Cards are still available at the store.
One in four children in Oklahoma struggles with hunger,” said Rodney Bivens, executive director of the Regional Food Bank. “No child should have to worry where their next meal will come from.”
Last school year, the Regional Food Bank provided the equivalent of 2.7 million meals to chronically hungry children through Food for Kids childhood hunger programs: the Backpack Program, Kids Cafe, Summer Feeding, and School Pantries.
“Jersey Mike’s is a valued partner in the fight against childhood hunger in Oklahoma,” said Bivens. “Over the past few years, Jersey Mike’s stores have donated more than $164,000 to ensure that children have enough to eat year-round.”
