Free Prescription Discount Cards Fight Hunger

Savings Help Oklahoma Families and the Regional Food Bank

(Oklahoma City) - Sept. 18, 2017 - The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is once again partnering with Watertree Health® to offer free prescription discount cards to residents in central and western Oklahoma. Each time someone saves with a card, Watertree Health makes a donation to the Regional Food Bank to help fight hunger, at no cost to the cardholder. To date, Watertree Health’s donations have provided more than 405,000 meals for Oklahomans facing hunger.

“People who are struggling economically are often forced to choose between medicine and food and that should never be the case,” said Shane Power, president of Watertree Health. “It’s heartbreaking that the majority of those served by the Regional Food Bank are the working families, seniors living on fixed incomes and children. People need to understand that these are the faces of hunger in Oklahoma.”

To get a free prescription discount card visit http://watertreehealthcard.com/FEEDOK or text FEEDOK to 95577. The cards can be used by people with health insurance and those who are uninsured. Card users can save up to 75 percent on brand name and generic drugs. The card is accepted at 95 percent of all pharmacies, including: Homeland Drug Stores, Walgreens, Walmart, Target and CVS and other national, regional and independent pharmacies.

“Oklahoma is one of the hungriest states in the nation, where one in four children struggles with hunger every day,” said Katie Fitzgerald, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank. “We are so appreciative of this partnership with Watertree Health.  The prescription cards not only provide savings for Oklahomans, but also provide hope to those who struggle with hunger in our state.”
