It's Not Too Late to Send Hunger Packing

Food and Wine Tasting Event Benefits Regional Food Bank's Food for Kids Program

OKLAHOMA CITY - Limited tickets are still available for the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma’s 25th annual Chefs’ Feast.  This food and wine tasting event “sends hunger packing” on Thursday, March 29th from 7 to 10 p.m. at the National Cowboy Heritage & Western Museum.  Enjoy culinary creations from more than 30 of the metro’s best restaurants, complemented by a variety of fine wines and spirits.  Proceeds from this international-themed food and wine tasting event benefit the Regional Food Bank's Food for Kids childhood hunger programs.

Chef Don Thiery from the Waterford Marriott and Chef Christine Dowd, owner of Trattoria il Centro and Aunt Pittypat’s Catering, are co-coordinating the fundraising event.

Proceeds go to the Regional Food Bank’s Food for Kids childhood hunger programs, which serve more than 13,000 children each week.  In Oklahoma, one in four children struggles with hunger every day.

Chefs’ Feast is presented by Chesapeake Energy Corporation.  Sponsors include: 7 UP/RC Cola, B.C. The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is a private, 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that acts as a link through which the food industry and community may donate food and other goods. The products are then distributed to nearly 1,000 schools and charitable feeding programs in 53 central and western Oklahoma counties. In fiscal year 2011, the Food Bank distributed 46.2 million pounds of food and product to help the charitable community effectively feed people in need. Since its inception in 1980, the Food Bank has distributed more than 433 million pounds of food to feed Oklahoma’s hungry.
