Edward Jones Spreads Christmas Cheer to Edmond Residents

Collects Donations for Regional Food Bank at Christmas Celebration

December 5, 2012

EDMOND, OKLA – Join Edward Jones and its employees this Saturday, December 8 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for a fun and festive holiday celebration and food drive at Randel Shadid Law Office, located at 19 North Broadway in downtown Edmond.  Attendees will celebrate the Christmas spirit by enjoying hot chocolate, special swag bags and photos with Santa.  Guests are also encouraged to embrace the spirit of giving by donating canned goods, or making a financial donation, to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

Items most needed this holiday season include: canned meat, canned vegetables, canned fruits, canned tuna, peanut butter and rice and beans.  In December, all financial donations made to the Regional Food Bank will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $1 million, by Chesapeake Energy Corporation.  So, every dollar donated to the Regional Food Bank will provide 10 meals to those in need.

The Regional Food Bank provides enough food to feed more than 90,000 people each week in 53 central and western Oklahoma counties, yet it is not enough.  During the winter months, 40 percent of the Regional Food Bank’s clients have to choose between buying food and paying their electric bill.

“Your gift will truly make a difference in the lives of hungry families, seniors and children this winter,” said Rodney Bivens, executive director of the Regional Food Bank.  “Thank you for your compassion.”

Make a tax-deductible donation to the Regional Food Bank by calling 405.972.1111 or visiting regionalfoodbank.org.  For more information about the Edward Jones Christmas celebration contact Financial Advisors Dustin Williams at 405.752.4453 or Candace Hobbs at 405.330.3930.

The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is a private, 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that acts as a link through which the food industry and community may donate food and other goods. The products are then distributed to nearly 1,000 schools and charitable feeding programs in 53 central and western Oklahoma counties. In fiscal year 2012, the Food Bank distributed 42.2 million pounds of food and product to help the charitable community effectively feed people in need. Since its inception in 1980, the Food Bank has distributed more than 456 million pounds of food to feed Oklahoma’s hungry.
