Delicious Deals Fight Hunger

EatAroundOKC Raises More than $7,000 for Food Bank

November 9, 2011

OKLAHOMA CITY - Since June, EatAroundOKC has raised $7,009 through its Oklahoma City restaurant deals program.

“We're so excited that our partnership with the food bank has been so productive,” said Tim Wall, founder of EatAroundOKC.  “We're very thankful to the restaurants that make this all possible by offering deals through our program.”

Through EatAroundOKC, foodies get fantastic discounts of 50 percent off or more at the best restaurants around the metro while fighting hunger.  This money-saving site donates 20 percent of net proceeds from every deal sold to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

In August, EatAroundOKC and locally-owned restaurant Cafe 7 teamed up to make an even bigger impact. Cafe 7 offered a deal through the EatAroundOKC and both EatAroundOKC and Cafe 7 agreed to donate $1 for every single voucher sold. The Cafe 7 deal proved so popular, it sold 1,201 vouchers by 3pm on the first day it was offered. This single deal resulted in a $2,402 donation to the Food Bank that will provide over 12,000 meals to hungry Oklahomans.

“I can't say enough how grateful I am to Cafe 7 for their partnership,” said Wall. “Not only did they make a tremendous offer, but they went above and beyond with their donation to the Regional Food Bank.”

Oklahomans can subscribe to EatAroundOKC Deals on the website http://deals.eataroundokc.com to receive free email updates about special offers at local Oklahoma City restaurants.  Plus, when deals are shared with friends, each friend that signs up gets a $5 credit, and you’ll get a $5 credit after your friend’s first purchase.

“We are extremely thankful for this donation and partnership with EatAroundOKC,” said Rodney Bivens, executive director of the Regional Food Bank.  “It will mean the difference between having food and going without for many Oklahomans.

The Regional Food Bank provides enough food to feed more than 90,000 hungry Oklahomans every week through a network of 700 charitable feeding programs and elementary schools.
