Kraft Foods and Homeland Supermarkets Score Against Hunger
Team Spirit Becomes Spirit of Giving
November 10, 2011
OKLAHOMA CITY - This fall, the company that helps you feed your family is on a mission to help feed America by donating 25 million meals to families through the Huddle to Fight Hunger campaign. Huddle to Fight Hunger combines three things Americans are passionate about – football, food and helping others.
“Oklahoma is the fifth hungriest state in the nation, where 600,000 people are food insecure,” said Rodney Bivens, executive director of the Regional Food Bank. “The Regional Food Bank provides enough food to help feed more than 90,000 people each week, yet it is not enough. We encourage football fans to join the huddle today so that others will have a better tomorrow.”
Go to facebook.com/kraftfighthunger and simply “LIKE” the Huddle to Fight Hunger page. Then, type in your zip code and a meal will automatically be generated for the Regional Food Bank! Locally, Homeland and Kraft have teamed up to guarantee a minimum of 100,000 meals are donated to the Oklahoma Food Banks through the Huddle promotion. Look for details at the Kraft display in all Homeland stores.
Kraft is also promoting a ‘text to give’ campaign at every OU and OSU home game. Text “OK” to 27722 to make a $10 donation to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. Each text donation will provide 50 meals to hungry Oklahomans this fall and winter. Message and data rates apply.
The campaign will culminate in San Francisco on December 31, 2011, with the second annual Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, which will be broadcast live on ESPN.
