In order for Urban Harvest to be able to accomplish its mission of "
Fighting Hunger...Feeding Hope" in Oklahoma - we depend heavily on the assistance and support of those who share this concern.
Volunteer to assist with gardening activities at the Food Bank Facility or at a nearby Community Garden. This is a great way for individuals, families, or organizations to help our community. Typical tasks that need to be done would include seeding in the greenhouse, planting, weeding, watering, harvesting produce, maintenance of the grounds and equipment, working with youth gardeners and other related activities. Volunteering with Urban Harvest is at times hard work but typically fun and educational and is the life blood of a program that works diligently to get nutritious produce to those in need.
Make a Donation – Financial assistance goes far in helping us purchase such things as seed, gardening tools and equipment or to begin new projects such as helping start a new community garden. Donations of new or used gardening related tools, power equipment and hoses as well as materials such as seed, plants, top soil, compost, pavers, carpeting and untreated grass clippings are also valuable resources that makes a huge impact on our ability to accomplish our mission.
Farmers and growers are encouraged to donate unsold produce which is placed in our distribution system to feed the hungry or unsold plants that are used in our gardens are distributed to the Community Gardens.
Sponsor a Community Garden on your organizations, school, church, or business property in the Oklahoma City area. Urban Harvest is dedicated to assisting in helping gardens to organize, build and sustain community gardens through workshops, printed materials, material assistance such as plants and seeds when available, and initial building labor. Periodic meetings are held for all Community Gardeners to foster cooperation, provide ongoing education and a forum for sharing ideas and needs.
Plant – A – Row in your home garden and donate the produce to the Food Bank or take it to a local pantry.
