Urban Harvest is affiliated with the following gardens. We have assisted in construction of some of these gardens and sustain each garden with such things as providing transplants, seed, raw materials when available, coordination for volunteers and business support, funding when available, power tool assistance advice and a meeting place for workshops and social functions.
Apollo Elementary School

This garden was established during the summer of 2006 by the efforts of AmeriCorp Youth Gardening Specialist Jerry Newhouse. The garden is designed to work with children after school to teach gardening skills and nutrition.
Boys & Girls Club Community Garden

Capitol View Neighborhood Community Garden

Central Park Neighborhood Community Garden

This is a neighborhood that has drastically reduced crime and drug dealing while bringing neighbors together through front yard gardening.
Children’s Center Community Garden

This Garden been removed due to construction but will be rebuilt in the Spring of 2007 with the assistance of Urban Harvest.
City Care Pershing Center
2400 General Pershing Blvd.
Transitional homeless shelter newly built in 2003 located east of the fairgrounds in the Westlawn Neighborhood (low income neighborhood with a very active neighborhood association) For the first time in many years, there are new homes being built. Urban Harvest helped Pershing Center build their garden and it supplies fresh produce for the meals provided to the residents and is also shared with people in the neighborhood. Two hoop houses are being built in the spring of 2006 with the assistance of Urban Harvest.
City-County Community Garden

In a low income community located across the street from Parker Elementary. Two plus acres is farmed by Floyd and volunteers to provide produce supplementation to this community that is grocery store deficient. Prior to 2006 this garden had one water faucet that was connected by a long hose to water this large garden. Urban Harvest coordinated with a concerned citizen who donated pipe and a trencher to move water to five different location easing the labor of this process.
Clark Memorial Community Garden

This garden is inactive as of spring 2007 due to a change in pastoral staff. Coordination to continue the garden is on going.
Classen Ten Penn Neighborhood Community Garden

Cleveland County Master Gardener Garden

This garden grows produce and gives it to a local food pantry in Norman.
CYO – Community Youth Outreach sponsored by Quayle United Methodist Church – N.E. 50th, east of Kelley

This is a program that works primarily with at-risk youth teaching them horticulture, computer and life skills classes. No individual plots but always looking for volunteers to work with the youth. Urban Harvest donated a salvaged greenhouse in 2006. Urban Harvest provides plants and other materials when available.

McFarland YWCA

Works with underserved youth on the N.E. side of Oklahoma City teaching youth gardening skills with the hopes of opening the first farmers market on the N.E. side of the city. Urban Harvest assisted in establishing an edible garden in 2004 and has been asked to help build a community/educational garden in 2007.
My Brothers Keeper Garden

This garden is located at a Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Residence – garden is grown by the residents and used for meals for the residents. Urban Harvest assisted in installing this garden in 2004/2005.
Our Community Garden at OSU-OKC

Community garden with individual plots located at the Oklahoma State University – Oklahoma City Horticulture Center. Construction has caused this garden to shrink in size but continues to be an educational tool.
OU Gardens/Norman

This is actually a collection of gardens that are coordinated by OU students and other interested citizens. The gardens are located at The Earth Store, OU Campus and GreenGriar. These students are active in self sustaining, earth friendly gardening.
Presbyterian Urban Mission Kids Cafe

This garden is a raised bed garden on top of concrete and is used to teach children about gardening and nature and provides nutritional snacks during their programs. A new green house was recently donated to the garden from an OKC family through Urban Harvest.
Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma

Demonstration community garden located at the Food Bank facility. This garden was constructed by boys seeking their Eagle Badge with the Boy Scouts. It is adopted by Food Bank Employees with much of the produce being directed to the Food Bank Distribution system to feed the hungry.
Selecman Community Garden

This is one of the first community gardens in OKC. They have individual plots for gardening along with community plots that they use to distribute to families and seniors in need.
Villa Trinity Community Garden

This community garden is located at a Catholic Senior retirement center. The gardeners are primarily seniors. Urban Harvest assisted in building this garden in 2004.
Wildewood Hill/Heights Community Garden

Everyone gardens together in a common area and keeps produce for their own use and also donates to Skyline Ministries. This garden sponsored by the Wildewood Hill/Heights Neighborhood Association.
The Village Library Community Garden

This Garden was the joint venture of OKC Sustainability Group, The Village Library and Urban Harvest. Established in the spring of 2006 it features one large plot for a group to grow for the local area pantries and three initial small plots for individuals. A bonus feature in the form of a butterfly garden was made possible by a grant from the National Wildlife Federation. Future growth is planned with more individual plots, and community activities.
First American United Methodist Church in Norman

New garden this year located in Norman and a new Native American church. This garden uses techniques and produce that are sacred and special to Native American culture with the produce given to church members in need.
