The Grainger Foundation Helps Feed Hungry Oklahomans
June 2, 2010
OKLAHOMA CITY - The Grainger Foundation, headquartered in Lake Forest, Ill., donated $10,000 to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma in support of its mission of helping the charitable community effectively feed people in need.
“We are proud to support the programs offered by the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma,” said Steve Rasch of W.W. Grainger, Inc.’s Oklahoma City location. “We understand the need for helping feed the 500,000 Oklahomans that struggle with hunger each day and are happy to help our community.”
This donation was recommended by Rasch, who recently volunteered to help sort donations during the Regional Food Bank’s Feeding Hope and Letter Carriers Food Drive.
The Regional Food Bank is the largest private hunger-relief organization in the state. The nonprofit provides enough food to feed more than 77,000 people each week through its network of 460 partner agencies in 53 central and western Oklahoma counties. Because food distribution has increased dramatically in the last twelve months, the Food Bank is seeking additional volunteers to help pack food donations and additional funds to keep up with the demand.
“This donation will provide 70,000 meals to hungry Oklahomans,” said Rodney Bivens, executive director of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. “We’re grateful to The Grainger Foundation for its continued support.”
Grainger has been a part of the Oklahoma City business community for more than 60 years as the leading broad line supplier of facilities maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) products.
