23rd Annual Chefs’ Feast Benefits Food 4 Kids

March 3, 2010

WHAT:
Dozens of local chefs from favorite Oklahoma City eateries will serve up wine, food and fun for a good cause at this year’s Chefs’ Feast: Food Fight at the OK Corral, presented by Chesapeake Energy Corporation. Chefs’ Feast raises money for the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma’s Food 4 Kids program. Guests will have the chance to win thousands of dollars in raffle prizes, including an evening gown by Project Runway’s Johnathan Kayne, a Marco Bicego gold necklace courtesy of B.C. Clark Jewelers, a trip for two on Southwest Airlines, and much more.
WHY:  Through Food 4 Kids, chronically hungry elementary school children receive a backpack filled with non-perishable, kid-friendly food on weekends and holidays throughout the school year. Before receiving help from the program, many of these children had very little or nothing to eat between school lunch on Friday and school breakfast on Monday. Last year’s Chefs’ Feast brought in more than $93,000 dollars in net proceeds for  Food 4 Kids.
WHO: Interviews are available with coordinating Chefs Don Thiery and Christine Dowd (owner of Trattoria Il Centro and Aunt Pittypat’s Catering), 25 local participating chefs, Regional Food Bank staff, volunteers, and more than 750 guests.  Members of the Regional Food Bank’s Celebrity Council will also be in attendance, including Project Runaway’s Johnathan Kayne and winner of NBC’s The Biggest Loser (Season 8), Danny Cahill.
WHEN:  Thursday, March 4 from 7 to 10 p.m.
WHERE:  The National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, located at 1700 NE 63rd St. in Oklahoma City
VISUALS: The Chefs’ Feast always provides plenty of interesting video and pictures, rich natural sound and colorful interviews with guests and participants

The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is a private, 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that acts as a link through which the food industry and community may donate food and other goods. The products are then distributed to nearly 700 schools and charitable feeding programs in 53 central and western Oklahoma counties. In the last fiscal year, the Food Bank distributed 28.5 million pounds of food and product to help the charitable community effectively feed people in need. Since its inception in 1980, the Food Bank has distributed more than 321 million pounds of food to feed Oklahoma’s hungry.
