MIO Coalition set a goal to sell 1 million paper towel rolls by the end of April. A portion of the sales benefit the Regional Food Bank’s Food 4 Kids program, which provides nearly 8,000 chronically hungry elementary school children with a backpack filled with nutritious, kid-friendly food on weekends and holidays throughout the school year.
On Tuesday, April 13, 2010, MIO Coalition hosted an “Eat Up” at the Regional Food Bank to promote the sale of the MIO paper towels that benefit Food 4 Kids.
Food was prepared by Good Egg Dining Group, a member of the MIO Coalition. DJ Dan from Oklahoma Party Patrol provided the tunes. Special guests included: Miss America 2007 Lauren Nelson Faram, Project Runway’s Johnathan Kayne, and State Senators Andrew Rice and Tom Ivester. Paper towel bowling was a hit, and so was the #MIOtwEATup hashtag, which guests used in their tweets for a chance to land on Lamar Outdoor Advertising's digital billboard. Lamar posted live tweets from the event!
The total amount donated at the event from paper towel sales was $11,487 to benefit Food 4 Kids!
